Independent Films

Independent films, better known as indie, are films which tend to go against the norm of traditional film productions, for numerous reasons. The first noticeable factor, which creates distinction, is the production team. The production teams of Indie films tends to be much smaller due to second difference, which is budget. Furthermore, one of the most important differences is the formula they follow. There is a major difference in style and genre of the Independent films. In fact, these films generally focus on particular problems or subjects and make you think critically through a challenging storylines.

There is this tendency where studio films serve as a good alienation to the viewer, precisely an element of escapeism. In fact, some sociological experts see films as a good way of escapeism from the daily life issues, due to these idealistic worlds which do not exist in reality. Indie films, on the other hand tend to go closer to what happens in real life.

Furthermore, another difference between these two main types of films is the distribution. Usually, Studio films go through a mainstream distribution system, which takes their films to different cinemas across the world. Independent films, on the other hand, submit their work to film festivals (local, national and international) to see who will be interested to buy the authority to distribute these films and where (distribution rights).
